Black-Owned Brands for Black Babies and Children…and some of our favorite children’s books by Black authors too!

As a proudly Black-owned Business, we understand how important it is to support and empower other Black entrepreneurs. This is something we have tried to do throughout our 10 years in business. We’ve had the privilege of partnering with some amazing Black-owned brands over the years and, along the way, we’ve also discovered some newer ones.  Below is a list of a few of our favorite Black-owned businesses that offer with some wonderful products and services specifically for ethnically diverse babies, children and their families. Also, at the end of the list, we’ve included some very talented Black children’s book authors whose books feature positive and inspiring stories about Black children and culture.

We hope you enjoy, support, and share some of your own favorites!

Beautiful Baby Club

Co-founded by Arianne Early, @beautifulbabyclub has the most adorable 100% handmade Ankara-print toddlers’ wear imported directly from Dakar, Senegal. All of the pieces are created by vendors in Dakar who use local wax print fabric. If these came in adult sizes, we'd be wearing them too! Learn more here: https://www.thebeautifulbabyclub.com/ and also check out their book!

AnnDrew Marie

Founded by jewelry designer Melanie Marie, @anndrewmarie has beautiful customized accessories created especially for "Mommies and their Minis"! With everything from purses and necklaces, to earrings and teething bracelets, their designs are amazing! Learn more here: https://anndrewmarie.com/

Shine Cloth

Let us introduce you to Shine Cloth (@the.shine.cloth ), founded by Deja Allison. This amazing company offers hand-sewn cloth diapers that are not only great for the environment (and our babies), but also feature socially conscious messages and imagery, which we love! You can request custom items and they also offer tees and onesies. Please be sure to check them out today.⠀

Brown Toy Box

@browntoybox was founded by Terri-Nichelle Bradley, and delivers STE(A)M-themed subscription boxes and products designed to prepare Black children for fulfilling and successful futures. Every themed box includes a culturally representative book, a hands-on activity or experiment, and a toy (Grades K-2) or other activity (Grades 3-6).

RainbowMe

We are in love with RainbowMe (@rainbowmekids)! Kya Johnson founded this company to serve as the go-to platform for kids ages 2-12 to find entertaining content that truly educates children about the nuances amongst varying cultures and ethnicities. The ultimate aim is to better prepare kids to be constructive participants within a global society, all while promoting positive images of children of color. They also have an A-MAZ-ING children's book using augmented reality that is unlike anything you've ever seen!  Check it out here. More of this, please!!

Thriving on the Spectrum

@ThrivingontheSpectrum is a Company founded by a dear friend of CARA B Naturally. Tracy Hawkins and her talented team are dedicated to developing new technologies to help children with autism. Inspired by her own children, Tracy has created a new Apple Watch-based application called “Thrive”, which aids with Visual Scheduling, Self-Regulation, and Positive Reinforcement Strategies. Their company is in the early stages, but for more information and to learn how you can support them, go to https://www.thrivingonthespectrum.org/.
